Cardiology

So I went to a cardiologist today about my fast heart rate (tachycardia in doctorese). He said that nothing in my medical history can explain it. I don't use a lot stimulants (even caffeine), my thyroid function is fine, and my blood counts are fine. So at the end of July I have an appointment for and echocardiogram (an ultrasound of my heart) to see if they can find anything structurally wrong with it. But the doc doesn't think they will. So we'll see what happens. But he doesn't seem to be worried about it.

I'm living through you. We both have fast hearts so if you come up with something bad then I am mentioning it to my CF DR. He doesn't seem super concerned about it and just said to use O2 when I notice it too high.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Get ready for a nap! Echo's are long boring tests.

It can be pretty neat to watch the view on the monitor.

Good luck!

Jess and Amy -

My resting heart rate is between 100 - 120. At one point in college it was consistently at 130. I've had multiple echos and EKGs and they've all been fine. Pulmonary hypertension was considered and then ruled out. When I moved out to NM, the docs here freaked out about it and order a cardiologist consult. More echos and a right heart cath later, everything was declared to be fine. In both clinics it was talked about that it might be due to a lifetime of bronchodilaters.

Anyway Jess, I hope your echo turns out ok. I think high heart rates might just be 'normal' for some of us.
